Research Assistant, School Improvement Initiatives

This individual’s primary responsibility will be to work closely with the Director of Assessment to prepare for and administer a biennial assessment to school improvement sites. Specific duties may include managing an online order system; assisting schools with administration procedures; corresponding with state agencies, principals and teacher-leaders at school improvement sites; and invoicing schools and processing payments.
Additionally, this individual will assist in collecting and analyzing data in order to publish research reports that support SREB’s school improvement initiatives. The candidate must possess knowledge in research design and statistical analysis. Most commonly performed tasks will include descriptive and basic inferential statistical analyses, interviews and literature reviews.
In general, this individual will collect, organize and input data; analyze results of research data; prepare reports; respond to inquiries about research studies; continuously update and maintain information on specified topics; create PowerPoint presentations; draft and prepare correspondence; and other duties as assigned.
A bachelor’s degree with experience in education research; excellent written and communication skills; and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, SPSS or SAS, and Internet research. The ability to perform statistical analysis, create Excel worksheets, and manage Access databases is essential.
