Students are invited to attend a presentation on Challenges in America’s Energy Future – The Role of Universities and National Laboratories by Sid Gutierrez, Director of Nuclear Energy and Global Security Technologies at Sandia National Labs on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the MRDC Room 4211. This will be the first in a series of talks on energy issues over the next several months presented by researchers from Sandia and Georgia Tech.
Sid Gutierrez retired from the Air Force at the rank of Colonel. He joined NASA as an astronaut in 1984, then served as pilot on the crew of STS-40 Spacelab Life Sciences, and on STS-59, part of Mission to Planet Earth. The Center he directs at Sandia contributes to national security through the development and application of world-class technologies in the nuclear fuel cycle, to move toward sustainable energy and improved environmental quality.
